Project Description

The Melton Line Upgrade forms part of the broader rail investment program in Melbourne’s west and is designed to increase capacity on the corridor by enabling 9-car VLocity trains to operate on the Melton Line.

The upgrade includes a new train stabling yard at Cobblebank, located about 700 metres east of the new Melton Station, together with platform extensions at Cobblebank, Rockbank, Caroline Springs and Deer Park, and works that support future electrification of the corridor. The Cobblebank stabling yard will accommodate up to six 9-car VLocity trains and includes rail connections, signalling and communications systems, worker facilities, parking, CCTV and lighting.
