Muswellbrook Pumped Hydro EOI
Undisclosed
Project Description
The Muswellbrook Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project repurposes the former Muswellbrook Coal Mine into a 400 MW, 3,200 MWh facility that can supply eight hours of dispatchable power. The scheme uses the existing mine void as the lower reservoir and a new upper reservoir on Bells Mountain. Water pumps uphill during low demand and generates through turbines at peaks, operating as a large-scale battery to stabilise the grid.
