Project Description

The Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub is a major battery energy storage facility in Plumpton, Melbourne’s west, developed to store excess renewable energy from the grid and discharge it during peak demand.

The project helps strengthen Victoria’s electricity network as coal-fired generation retires. It required substantial civil and structural works, including BESS foundations, transformer slabs, footings, cable trenches, switchyards, stormwater infrastructure and associated FRP works to support large-scale battery units and high-voltage infrastructure.

Scope of Works

  • Provided civil estimating support for a major FRP package, including BESS foundations and transformer slabs.
  • Completed post-tender contractual negotiations to ensure scope changes and pricing adjustments were captured.
  • Supported construction delivery of critical civil infrastructure, including footings, foundations, slabs, switchyards, cable trenches, pile caps and stormwater works.
  • Developed detailed project programmes for review, supported by two-week lookahead programmes for site delivery.
  • Provided logistical and project support during acceleration works to help meet revised project milestone dates.
  • Supported commercial management of acceleration-related costs and time claims.
  • Assisted in capturing claimable costs associated with programme changes, acceleration impacts and delivery support requirements.
